In Chapter 14 it talks a lot about the Atlantic Slave Trade. The Atlantic Slave Trade was the deportation of millions of slaves, specifically African Americans, to Americas. Slave owners would trade slaves for many different things such food products, clothing, and other materialistic things. This slave trade route was located between the Atlantic Ocean, this was because countries such as Africa, North America, and Europe were the main contributors for these slaves. Africa was very important because this is where they got slaves. They then transported slaves to Europe were they would be sold to slave owner and then traded for another product. Thus this created the Atlantic Slave Trade.

However, some slaves weren't slave and bought into slaves, instead they were born into it. In some cases, people have made deals with others for something and in return they may be your servant for a period of time. Others may have been imprisoned and are now they are captured. This may be considered slave imprisonment.

The slave trade and the Kingdom of Kongo:

1.) The state of Kongo welcomed the Portuguese and thought that having an alliance with the Portuguase would help them.
2.) Royal Family converted to Christainity and welcomed European guns, cattle, and horses
3.) Seven Kongoles were sent to Portugual for education
4.) Portuguase sent priests, artistans, merchants and soliders

To me this sounded like the Portuguase came over to the Kingdom of Kongo and took over. It says in the passage that "Kongo was in disarray and the authority of its rulers were greatly underminded." (Pg 705)

The Slave Trade and the Kingdom of Asante:

1.) The Kingdom of Asante had a merchant propective. They were heavily invested in the slave trade industry.
2.) Many slaves in this kingdom was from acts of war. Meaning that they were prisoners of those who conquered them.
