Part Four: The Early Modern World 1450-1750

Early Modern Era

The early modern era were the "beginnings of genuiene globalization, elements of distinctly modern societies, and a growing European presence in the world affairs.

Globolization started when the Europeans came over to the Americas and colonized. The Atlantic Slave Trade helped with this colonization because slaves helped the Europeans expand their territory much faster. Also this was a great way for other products to be grow at a faster and more productable fashion. The Atlantic Trade also help trade many different products such as medals, plants, animals, and their beliefs.

With the transfer of different products because of this trade, something else was brought along and that is diseases. The Great Dying is one of the largest mass deaths in the history of the world. Europeans brought diseases to the Americas that caused about 90-95% of the population in the Western Hemisphere to die.

A late Agrarian Era was based on producing and maintaining crops and farmland and for the "majority of humankind, the three centruies between 1450-1750 marked traditional continuation of older agrarian societies.

Chapter 21 Summary

Anthony Langarica World History 4-2-19 Chapter 21 In Chapter 21 it discussed the end of communism as well as socialism. Communism is a "political theory advocating class war and leading the society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs." This was inspired by the teachings of Karl Marx. Karl Marx "was a German philosopher, economist, historian, sociologist, political theorist, journalist and socialist revolutionary."  He beleived that people can "achieve their goals peacefully and through a democratic process, those who defined themselves as communists in the 20th century disdained such reformism and advocated uncompromising revolution." (Pg 930) Socialism is something different however. Hallmarks of NDNU and what I learn from them

Anthony Langarica 3-14-19 World History Their are two Hallmarks at NDNU that stand out to me out of the seven this institution has. The first one that stands out to me is the Hallmark 2 and the second Hallmark that stands out is number 5. Hallmark two states that " We honor the dignity and sacredness of each person." This stands out to me because this means that we respect one another. We also dont take anyone for granted and cherish each person as an equal. Hallmark 5 states "We embrace the gift of diversity." I like this Hallmark in particular because in the San Fransico area their are people from many different backgrounds. We embrace these backgrounds and the cultures of others. An example of this would be Chinatown. Chinatown has the China feel to it, embracing their culture even though they are not in their home land. We can see all around us how these Hallmarks come into play with our lifes without us knowing it.
