History Presentation

Anthony Langarica World History 4-10-19 Topic: Early Slavery in America Audience: College Students // The Next Generation Why is topic important? I believe this topic is important to talk about because it teaches us the history of our country as well as the history of people from different backgrounds. In addition it’s important to know about slavery because it shows how it has affected many people and countries. 2-4 Key Ideas: 1.) Atlantic Slave Trade- 10 million Africans were enslaved and transported to Europe and the Americas between the 15th and 19th centuries. During the 15th century when Portugal, and subsequently other European kingdoms, were finally able to expand overseas and reach Africa. The Portuguese first began to kidnap people from the west coast of Africa and to take those they enslaved back to Europe. Slave trade played an important role in providing British industry with access to raw materials. This contributed to the increased production of ma...

Chapter 22 Summary

Anthony Langarica World History 4-9-19 Chapter 22 Summary During this weeks class we made a time line of the Modern Era. The modern era meaning the European Era. During the European Era many things happened such as the Renaissance and the Enlightment. These two particular things focused on things such as freedom, equality, science, and democracy. This included the teachings from Karl Marx. Their were many revolutions however one of the most important one is the industrial revolution. Also, the Conquest of the Americas was very important to world history considering this was the start of the "new world." As we move futher down the time line we started to point out many other things that happened in world history. Things such as World War 1 and 2, The Cold War, and The Civil Rights movement. We also see the sign of declination from the modern era. We start to challenge science at a way of understanding the physical reality. In addition, many people who were conquered by...

Chapter 20  Summary April 8, 2019 Anthony Langarica World History 4-8-19 Chapter 20 In Chapter 20 it discuses the start of the First World War, it's effects and the after math, along with how Europe recovered from the severe damage caused by the war. World War I Was first know as the "Great War" which was the first war to "effectively launch the twentieth century. From the start of the 1500s Europe has maintained a prominent political position in the world. Their growing military force and the "marvel" of both their Scientific and Industrial revolutions. Has Europe began to grow, Europeans and people from European decent were controlled through their formal empires. Once Italy and Germany joined their territories tensions began to rise. Germany wanted their time to shine and show that they have power as well. The outbreak of war was not intentional but rather and accident. There was no plan or predictions when it came to the archduke's ...

Chapter 21 Summary

Anthony Langarica World History 4-2-19 Chapter 21 In Chapter 21 it discussed the end of communism as well as socialism. Communism is a "political theory advocating class war and leading the society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs." This was inspired by the teachings of Karl Marx. Karl Marx "was a German philosopher, economist, historian, sociologist, political theorist, journalist and socialist revolutionary."  He beleived that people can "achieve their goals peacefully and through a democratic process, those who defined themselves as communists in the 20th century disdained such reformism and advocated uncompromising revolution." (Pg 930) Socialism is something different however. Socialism is a "political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned and regulated by the community...

Anthony Langarica World History 3-19-18 Chapter 19: This week in class we had to divide into 3 different groups. These three groups talked about China, Ottoman Empire, and Japan during the 17th-19th centruries. Colonialism is the policy of acquiring full or partial control over another occupying it with settlers and exploiting it economically. In the first wave of colonialism it was located in the North and South Americas. The settlers that came over to the Americas was the Iberians from Spain and Portugual. The second were the British then Russia and lastly France. They perminately displaced the native people that lived in the North and South Americas. The second wave of colonialism was when settlers started to go to Africa, Asia, and Australia. The settlers that came to those countries was everyone who could. This brought up something that stands out in History and this is called the Scramble for Africa. Scramble for Africa was the occupation, division, and colonization of African territory by Europeans during the years 1881 and 1914. The Europeans came as adminis...

Hallmarks of NDNU and what I learn from them

Anthony Langarica 3-14-19 World History Their are two Hallmarks at NDNU that stand out to me out of the seven this institution has. The first one that stands out to me is the Hallmark 2 and the second Hallmark that stands out is number 5. Hallmark two states that " We honor the dignity and sacredness of each person." This stands out to me because this means that we respect one another. We also dont take anyone for granted and cherish each person as an equal. Hallmark 5 states "We embrace the gift of diversity." I like this Hallmark in particular because in the San Fransico area their are people from many different backgrounds. We embrace these backgrounds and the cultures of others. An example of this would be Chinatown. Chinatown has the China feel to it, embracing their culture even though they are not in their home land. We can see all around us how these Hallmarks come into play with our lifes without us knowing it.
