Anthony Langarica World History 3-19-18 Chapter 19: This week in class we had to divide into 3 different groups. These three groups talked about China, Ottoman Empire, and Japan during the 17th-19th centruries. My group specifically talked about China. We talk about how China avoided European colonies and also resisted agression and reform from European societies. In 1793 the British requested to have an open trade with China, however the denied this because they didnt want the Europeans to come in and take over. In about 100 years later China would see the effects of their denial. In 1912 China collapsed and became weak and dependent "participate to Europeans domination." We also talked about the four dimensions of European power 1.) Strong Military and Strong political ambitions. 2.) Chapter 18 Summary

Anthony Langarica 3-15-19 World History During this week in class we talked colonialism and the conquest of the Europeans. Colonialism is the policy of acquiring full or partial control over another occupying it with settlers and exploiting it economically. In the first wave of colonialism it was located in the North and South Americas. The settlers that came over to the Americas was the Iberians from Spain and Portugual. The second were the British then Russia and lastly France. They perminately displaced the native people that lived in the North and South Americas. The second wave of colonialism was when settlers started to go to Africa, Asia, and Australia. The settlers that came to those countries was everyone who could. This brought up something that stands out in History and this is called the Scramble for Africa. Scramble for Africa was the occupation, division, and colonization of African territory by Europeans during the years 1881 and 1914. The Europeans came as adminis...

Hallmarks of NDNU and what I learn from them

Anthony Langarica 3-14-19 World History Their are two Hallmarks at NDNU that stand out to me out of the seven this institution has. The first one that stands out to me is the Hallmark 2 and the second Hallmark that stands out is number 5. Hallmark two states that " We honor the dignity and sacredness of each person." This stands out to me because this means that we respect one another. We also dont take anyone for granted and cherish each person as an equal. Hallmark 5 states "We embrace the gift of diversity." I like this Hallmark in particular because in the San Fransico area their are people from many different backgrounds. We embrace these backgrounds and the cultures of others. An example of this would be Chinatown. Chinatown has the China feel to it, embracing their culture even though they are not in their home land. We can see all around us how these Hallmarks come into play with our lifes without us knowing it.
Anthony Langarica World History 3-12-19 Part Four: The Early Modern World 1450-1750 Early Modern Era The early modern era were the "beginnings of genuiene globalization, elements of distinctly modern societies, and a growing European presence in the world affairs. Globolization started when the Europeans came over to the Americas and colonized. The Atlantic Slave Trade helped with this colonization because slaves helped the Europeans expand their territory much faster. Also this was a great way for other products to be grow at a faster and more productable fashion. The Atlantic Trade also help trade many different products such as medals, plants, animals, and their beliefs. With the transfer of different products because of this trade, something else was brought along and that is diseases. The Great Dying is one of the largest mass deaths in the history of the world. Europeans brought diseases to the Americas that caused about 90-95% of the population in the Western He...

He had three different owners however hewas different from a lot of other slaves. "He learned to read and write, traveled extensively as a seaman aboard one of his masters ships, and was allowed to buy his freedom in 1766." In this narrative Olaudah talks about "two men got over our walls and in a moment seized us both and without giving us time to cry out, or make resistance, they stopped our mouths, and ran off with us into the nearest woods." The next day him and his sister we seperated and they were sold into the slavery. Olaudah was sold multiple times to different owners and was used for different types of work. The last merchant that bought him,...
